If not for the grace of God...
Ephesians 2:8
For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God
We need to remember that we owe everything to the grace and mercy of God. In the words of the songwriter: What do I possess that you did not give
to me; What good thing that I have done that you did not ordain; Everything we have and every exploit we have made in the kingdom of God is through His grace and mercy. As stated in the Bible, if we want to boast, let us boast in the Lord.
Any revelation we have from the word of God comes from the Lord. Any good work we do is ordained by him. We cannot take any credit for anything we do or say since it all comes through the grace of our Lord. Psalm 124: Unless
it was the Lord who was for us—
let Israel say—
2 unless
it was the Lord who was for us
when people[a] rose against us,
3 they
would have swallowed us alive
when their anger burned against us.
4 Then the waters would have submerged us.
The torrent would have swept our lives away.
5 Then the wild waters would have swept us away.
6 Blessed be the Lord,
who has not let
us be prey for their teeth.
7 We have escaped with our lives
like a bird out of the fowlers’ snare.
The snare has been broken, and we have escaped.
8 Our
help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
Just writing a quick reminder to always glorify God for everything. If we stop to think about it, God has let us live on His earth breathing His air for free. Again in the words of the psalmist Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. Amen.
