Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Charm can be misleading, and beauty is vain and so quickly fades, but this virtuous woman lives in the wonder, awe, and fear of the Lord. She will be praised throughout eternity..
As we celebrate international women's day, let us take a look at virtuous women in the Bible. God outlines what qualities He desires women to have. 1Peter 3:3,4 Your beauty should not be dependent on an elaborate coiffure, or on the wearing of jewellery or fine clothes, but on the inner personality—the unfading loveliness of a calm and gentle spirit, a thing very precious in the eyes of God. This was the secret of the beauty of the holy women of ancient times who trusted in God. (TPT) Let your true beauty come from your inner personality, not a focus on the external. For lasting beauty comes from a gentle and peaceful spirit, which is precious in God’s sight and is much more important than the outward adornment of elaborate hair, jewelry, and fine clothes. An overview of Biblical women takes us from Deborah, a righteous judge who provided wisdom in battle, to Ruth who chose the Lord over her natural family and Christ was a descendant of her, to Mary who was chosen to bear the Messiah, Esther a queen who interceded for her people, Mary of Bethany who sat and listened to Jesus teaching, Mary Magdalene who was the first witness of the resurrected Savior, and the list continues. God used women in all capacities. Although the temptation came through a woman, Eve in the garden of Eden, so did the Savior who was the seed of a woman who crushed the serpent. God anointed women in all walks of life. Women were consulted in battle as with Deborah. Women were in the lineage of Christ as with Ruth and Rahab. Women are given the responsibility of nurturing the new generation.. Someone said: Women are so busy trying to do everything a man can do that they forget that they were created to do everything a man cannot do. God created men and women with different qualities. Modern day society is trying to blur the distinction between men and women. God created women to be more nurturing. God intends men and women to complement each other not to compete with each other. Jesus took the time to converse with the woman at the well and lead her to salvation. His first miracle was to turn water into wine at the request of His mother. God anoints women with a different calling then men. Throughout history women have been intercessors, standing in the gap and praying for revival. Women have been nurturing and raising their children, a noteworthy vocation. In closing, let us as women embrace our femininity and stop striving to be like men. A shout out to prayer warriors, mothers, wives and all Godly women through out the world. God has made you an original do not become a copy. Also, thanks to the many men who put up with the quirks of women. Amen.
