A New Commandment

Jesus gave us a new commandment to love one another as He has loved us.  That is a tall order considering the fact that He died for us and gave His life to redeem us from the clutches of sin, self and satan. The Bible says we are bought with a price, not with perishable gold and silver but with the precious blood of Jesus. We now belong to Him. He is our Master. However He is not a harsh taskmaster but rather adopted us into His family. He considers us His friends. Once we surrender our lives over to Him, we have too much to gain to lose. Also there is no other rational choice we can make. If we reject Him and His commandments we have eternal separation from God awaiting us. Eternity is a long time to be wrong. Heart's Cry

In His image

At creation man was created in God's image and likeness. However after the fall the glory of God left Adam and Eve. Jesus restored  all that was lost by  Adam. Now we are being transformed into the likeness of Christ. We are to be a reflection of God's nature. We are to alter our vocabulary and lifestyle to conform to His. We look into the Bible to determine His nature and character and as we invite Him into  our lives He comes in and gives us a new nature. We let go of our natural sinful attitudes and we are transformed continually to conform to the likeness of Christ. Jesus was God who came in human form with all the frailities of human nature yet He lived an overcoming life by the Holy Spirit. He has equipped us to do the same. "We are more than conquerers through Christ" We are called to mirror the life of Christ.

Y.O.L.O

You  Only Live Once ( and then comes judgement...) We have all heard the popular term Y.O.L.O frequently used as a licence to party, splurge and  live for the moment without considering the consequences. However, even though the phrase is accurate, it is incomplete. The Bible says in the book of Hebrews "It is appointed for man once to die  and then comes judgement"  We do infact live only once. The choices we make during our life determine our final destination. The Good Book says " Choose ye this day whom you will serve, As for me and my house we will serve the Lord" . Serving the Lord is not an ardous task. He is not a harsh taskmaster requiring to forsake everything we enjoy for a  life of subjugation and boredom. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. In His prescence is fullness of joy and at His right hand are pleasures forevermore. He cautions us against a lifestyle that leads to death, destruction and eventually to eternal separation from God simply because He loves us and wants to spend eternity with us. The Bible says Eye has not seen nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for those that love Him. Again as the Word says Choose life and  you shall live. God has given us a choice to make regarding our final destination. Jesus said in John 14:6"I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'  "Choose wisely for your choice is irrevocable after death.

Divine Wine

Is your soul thirsting for a drink from the wells of heaven? Jesus said to a sinful woman drawing water from a well "If you drink of the water that I give you, you will never thirst again"  People look to alcohol and other substances to try and reach a higher high or to numb their senses. The Bible says "My people have forsaken me the fountain of living water and have hewn for themselves broken cisterns that hold no water"  If you are truly looking to satisfy your thirst look to the Holy Spirit. It is  written " Be not drunk with wine but be filled with the Holy Spirit" There is no high like The Most High. Look up to Jesus and ask Him to fill you with the Holy Spirit. He promises "Joy unspeakable and full of glory". "In the prescence of the Lord is fullness of joy and at His right hand are pleasures forevermore". The very first miracle of Jesus was to turn water into wine at the wedding of Cana. Once Jesus enters into your life he will turn the waters of  bitterness, worry, cares and concerns into the wine of joy and gladness.

Soul Food

As people, we have three parts to us. Spirit, soul and body. As we take care of our bodies with food and exercise, we also need to nourish our spirit. We find this spiritual nourishment in the Bible. Jesus said ' My meat is to do the will of Him who sent me' Are you spiritually hungry? Not to worry. You will find nourishment in the word of God. Open the Bible and feast on a spiritual banquet. Remember it is our blueprint for living. Visit the buried treasure and  heart's cry section.

A word from the Word

We are surrounded by bad news all around us in the newspapers and television. This is a result of living in a sinful fallen world. In case you haven't noticed this is not the garden of Eden. Where can we find refuge, solace, comfort and instruction to help us overcome adverse circumstance? We find it in the Word of God the Bible which is our blueprint for living.
